During the last week of University we were set our first summative brief, combining all the things that we have been learning over the last few months and bringing together the new skills that we've learnt.
The focus on this project is individual to each student, however as a starting point we were advised to choose a topic that we had looked at during our group task. My group based our project around women's footwear and in particular 'Boots'.
From this I decided to concentrate my summative project around PVC and Plastic, as I feel that this material has very interesting connotations to explore. As well as this according to WGSN plastic is going to be a strong trend throughout the upcoming season, particularly within womenswear.
As part of this project we have also been asked to record our research within blog posts, so expect my findings to begin to filter through on here over the upcoming weeks. I am really excited about this project, creating my first individual piece and hopefully I can find some great primary research when I visit New York with my course next week. (Stay tuned for an upcoming post on what I hope to get up to whilst in New York)
