Black is Back

Today in Nottingham the sun came out and I couldn't miss the opportunity to go and do an outfit post! It wasn't super warm so I paired my black skinny jeans (New Look) with a shift top (M&S) and denim jacket (Charity Shop). Obviously I couldn't go out without my trusty sunglasses (Forever 21) and my floppy hat (New Look) finally made a reappearance!

So
Until next time my lovelies,

Elie Saab AW 16/17

Elie Saab was always, and still is, one of my all time favourite brands. From their fragrances to their beautiful gowns, as a brand it has never failed to amaze me. With this season being no exception! Yesterday Elie Saab took to the runway in Paris with their AW ready-to-wear collection, and I was instantly mesmerized, the dark colours captured my attention as the collection was darker than many of its predecessors, and I feel that the colour palette, combined with the iconic detailing created an almost gothic effect. That being said the designs were, as always very effortless and chic, with a sole white dress standing out from the crowd.

Here are some of my favourite looks from the show...

I love how Bohemian this dress is, the colour palette is gorgeous.

Possibly my favourite look from the entire show, please be in my wardrobe when I open it next.

Very Self Portrait inspired I feel.

Another favourite!

Again a possible all time fave from this collection.

LOVE THIS.

Kendall + Elie Saab = what more could you want ?

This show is by far my favourite throughout every fashion week this year, so until next time Eli Saab, I look forward to it.

Fragrance Workshop

I adore my course at University and on Thursday my love grew even more, as we were given the opportunity to hear guest lecturer Karen Gilbert (who has worked in the fragrance industry over 25 years!) talk about the fragrance industry and most excitingly we were allowed to create our own perfume!

Within the lecture we learnt all about the science behind smell and why in many cases scents can link heavily to memory; as well as this we were taught about defining notes and how base, middle and top notes are combined to create the fragrances that we all know today.

Over the course of 2 hours, in groups we were given a sheet to work through that enabled us to pick out specific scents to create our fragrance. Before we even got to smell any perfumes our first task was to come up with a story/customer demographic to base our fragrance on; our group chose to focus on mens cologne and lightheartedly based it upon the 'George Clooney' ideal.

From this we then chose our heart and accessory notes and after these were combined added in our chosen fixatives and harmonisers. Initially we could only combine these using smelling strips to ensure that we found the perfect combination.

Then came the really tricky part, this involved deciding on the right amount of each note to add into our perfume, and after some careful combining we were very satisfied with our end result!

The day was a really fun way to learn more about our project topic and allowed us to think creatively as if we were in the fragrance industry ourselves.

So
Until next time my lovelies,
