London - Vogue 100 Exhibition

Recently, with University we spent the day exploring London. We were allowed to do whatever we wanted and me and my flat mate decided that somewhere we really wanted to go was the National Portrait Gallery and visit the 'Vogue 100 - A century of Style' exhibition. Tickets cost a little over £15 with student discount, but I feel that it was definitely money well spent. I loved being able to see the progression of the magazine from when it first started in 1916 to today.
From the exhibition I came away wishing that Vogue still used more creative ways of creating their front cover. For example in the earlier years artwork and paintings were used for the front cover, but nowadays Vogue are heavily reliant on photography. Something that Vogue have also stopped doing is changing their typography for their title, and I wish that this was something they would revert back to.
Another thing I found particularly interesting was whilst looking at every magazine published I noticed that after almost every other edition the pricing went up my 10p. This was consistent, surprisingly until the latest release, which instead of going up in price, actually decreased. I thought that this was clearly a deviation in pattern and it got me thinking about why their lowered pricing might be, are Vogues' sales decreasing? Are they trying to make it more accessible? It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few years, to see whether the pricing will even out, decrease or begin to increase again.

So

Until next time my lovelies,
